TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS

 

The tournament is a 36-hole stroke play event played from the Championship tees (Black) over the Championship Course at Katameya Heights. The tournament will crown two champions – a gross champion and a net champion. The winner of the Gross and Net event will have their respective names engraved on the perpetual Trophies that are on show at the trophy cabinet at Katameya Heights. The tournament is qualifying for handicaps – Black Tees (SSS 72) www.katameyaheights.com The tournament is the first qualifying event for the 2009-2010 EGF Men’s Order of Merit. Order of Merit points will be allocated following the event. Refer to www.egyptiangolffederation.org for further information. a) The scorecard length for the Tournament will be as follows:

b) The tournament is open to men amateurs only - with a maximum handicap of 18. Players must have a recognized handicap and show proof of that handicap at registration as this is also a net competition. c) The size of the field will be a maximum of 84 golfers with a handicap ballot deciding the final 84 players with lower handicappers having priority. d) Draw for Round 2, subject to gross score order from round 1. The committee reserves the right to amend a draw if it deems necessary. The results sheet published for round 1, which produces results according to count back is in no way related to the round 2 draw. e) No player may win more than one prize. In the event of a player finishing in more than one prize position the higher number will take precedence, If the number are the same, the gross award will take precedence. f) Competitors are permitted to practice on Thursday 29th October 2009. h) Carts are permitted for the tournament. The first two players in the draw sheet shall be required to share. Players’ having a caddy has no impact on this rule, the caddy will walk. Only the player who happens to have the cart on his own may allow his players to use that cart. i) All entries are to be sent to and collated by Katameya Heights Golf and Tennis Resort. Online entries will be available aswell. www.katameyaheights.com Mass Entries from golf clubs will not be accepted. j) In the event of there being a tie for first place in the 36 hole gross event there will be a sudden death play-off over the 18th and 10th holes and the repeated loop until a result is achieved. For all other ties there will be a card play-off over the last 18, 9, 6, 3, and last hole. In the event of there still being a tie there will be a card play-off starting from the 1st hole and playing the course as per the card until a result is achieved. k) If a player arrives at his starting point ready to play, within 5 minutes after his starting time the penalty for failure to start on time is 2 strokes to be added to the player's starting hole. If the player arrives after 5 minutes the player is disqualified. l) The R & A Rules of Golf and the local rules of Katameya Heights apply as indicated on the score card. m) Caddies – Caddies are permitted as long as the compulsory cart rule and 2 players per cart rule are honored. Any Caddie, i.e. non Katameya, may be used. n) A round of golf should take no longer than 4 hours and 9 holes should take no longer than 2 hours. If a player / group is considered slow the following penalties will be applied; First Offence              warning Second Offence       Two strokes Third Offence        Disqualification o) Mobile Telephones – Not to be used for the 18 holes of each round. p) Local Rule permitting Use of Distance Measuring Devices 14 – 3/0.5 Players are permitted to use devices that measure distance only. However, the use of devices that gauge or measure other conditions that might affect a player’s play (e.g. wind or gradient) is not permitted. In the absence of such a Local Rule, the use of a distance measuring distance devices would be to Rule 14 -3.
