Katameya Heights Golf and Tennis Resort is hosting a Rally for the Cure® Ladies Golf Event on Tuesday October 27, 2009.Rally for the Cure is the largest grassroots program that includes golf, tennis and dining events created to support the promise of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and spread the message that early detection saves lives. More than 1.5 million people have participated in Rally for the Cure events across the nation since its inception in 1996. This year marks the 5th year Katameya Heights Golf and Tennis Resort has rallied against breast cancer.

The day’s activities will begin with registration from 7-8:30am, 8:45 group photo, 9am shotgun start for the Texas Scramble format, followed by a lunch and learn program and prize ceremony. Prizes will be awarded to the winner of the event and each participant will receive a goody bag with important Komen breast health information.

Katameya Heights Head Golf Professional had the following to say “We are proud to once again host the Rally for the Cure event. The event is a fun way to bring together our members and the community to support a very important cause while playing a sport they are passionate about.”

 The mission of Rally for the Cure has been to emphasize the importance of early detection in the successful treatment of breast cancer and to support the mission of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. According to Komen for the Cure, each year breast cancer is the leading cause of death for women ages 35-54, and the disease also accounts for more than 75% of all cancer deaths in women 55 years of age and older.
